Ride 2 - I hate 'No Exit' signs

Ride 2 - 24 February 2019 Distance 12.5 miles (Distance to Date 21.3 miles) Time 1:24 (Time to Date 2:36) Ride 2 and I already hate 'No Exit' signs.  Every single stupid yellow sign may as well say 'Double Distance'! Other than that, not much to report!  I'm already finding it quite cathartic colouring in maps.  When I do the rides I have a phone mounted on my handlebars so I can track streets (and try and ensure I don't miss anything!), so I slowly make my way around the target area, basically colouring in while taking in the scenery!  Taking adult colouring to a whole new level! This bike was a bit more road worthy than the last! Points of Interest...... Elvis Bear!  ( 48.48393, -123.32582) Just a bear, looking like Elvis, hanging out under a palm tree. The Crazy Tree of Gordon Head  ( 48.486991, -123.321943) Do you ever look at something and think, "that guy's got too much time on his hands?&q

Ride 1 - ...and so it begins

Ride 1 - 18 February 2019 Distance 8.8 miles (Distance to Date 8.8 miles) Time 1:12 (Time to Date 1:12) Figuratively speaking, I think I dipped my toes with this ride, rather than jumping in at the deep end!  A leisurely hour of cycling in my neighborhood, this is as easy as it gets! In my defense, the conditions weren't really on my side; slippery roads and a death trap bike! My Noble Steed (note: four spokes missing) Not sure I have the best machine for these conditions! Points of Interest...... Victoria's Saddest Snowman ( 48.47995, -123.34281) This guy looked sweet and sad all at once, he's well worth a visit if you're in the area......although I make no guarantees he'll still be there :) Ornate Urban Fountain ( 48.470552, -123.339589) Rome, Venice, .....erm Cedar Hill Rd.  This fountain is impressive, if a little out of place.  It was shut off when I visited in February, but I'm hoping it

How many roads are there in Victoria?

So, before getting started, I'm going to make a guess of what I've taken on. The challenge is to cover every road in Victoria, I've taken 'Victoria' to mean Victoria and the surrounding areas / districts. So the municipality 'City of Victoria' has a total of 258km . Unfortunately, I've made my life difficult and included Esquimalt, Oak Bay and some of Saanich! Just a finger in the air here, but it looks like Victoria covers 1/4 of my area, so I'm looking at just over 1,000km.  On one of these: Jeepers

.......and so it begins

Every year I set myself a challenge; these challenges have ranged from giving up meat, to forming a one man band and charity fundraising. This year the challenge is set; to cycle every single street in Victoria, British Columbia ....to add a little twist, I'll do the whole thing on a rental bike. Along the way, I plan to record things of interest I see, people I meet etc and update this blog with progress.  Hopefully at the end I'll have a handy guide of things to see in Victoria BC (on two wheels). Hope you enjoy the journey!
