Ride 5 - Nothing Interesting .....EXCEPT A COW!!!

Ride 5 - 23 March
Distance 12.9 miles (Distance to date 85.0 miles)
Time 1:42 (Time to date 9:39)

I guess not every ride in this project is going to be a 10.  Ride 5 was the first ride I've done where I've kind of had nothing much to report, except a cow!!! (see more details of this gem below).

After the debacle of finding a bike for my last ride, this one was a piece of cake to find and the bike was in pretty good order (except a damaged pedal).

This ride was the first with some steep hills.  We got through it, but there were moments when my legs were near capacity!

Points of Interest.....

The Urban Cow (48.473823, -123.346427)

It's hard to believe that there is a cow living among us, but what I'm telling you is true.  A COW!!! Just there chewing the cud on Braefoot Rd.  It's not like there's a farm nestled between houses either, this appears to be a cow living in a yard.

My work here is done.

It's udderly amazing what you find when you mooove about

Only one point of interest, but a couple of other pictures:

Ride 48 - Final Ride!!

Ride 48 - 15 Dec 2019 Distance 25.1 km (Distance to date 1532.7 km) Time 2hrs 11mins (Time to date 108hrs 12mins) Put a fork in me........I'm DONE!!! Since February 2019, I have dreamed of this ride.  I'd had all sorts of thoughts about how to end and how I'd mark the occasion.  In the end, I planned nothing.  With my wife heavily pregnant, the rides were becoming a burden and adding a celebration just didn't seem fair. In the end, fate gave me an ending; albeit a simple one.  The final metre of my final street was this................... The cycling gods delivered The last ride was a cold one, with the night's frost melting away as the sun hit. On the way there I also achieved a bucket list level accomplishment!!! Being early meant that downtown wasn't busy, great for a cyclist wanting to meander about looking for his last few random finds of this adventure. Ride 11/12 - Bang Bang

Ride 11/12 - 12-13 May 2019 Distance 24.1 miles (Distance to date 212.1 miles) Time 3:09 (Time to date 24:11) To help me keep on top of things, I've combined these rides.  I got busy, rode three days on the bounce and have been struggling to catch up since (I have a life away from exploring Victoria too!). v Both rides were in the evening and local to my home.  Being out in the evening was a nice change and there were plenty of deer roaming the street at dusk. Green Bike in it's natural habitat More Deer.....said nobody in Gordon Head Points of Interest..... Sea View Bench   (48.494665, -123.328541) Beach access is at a premium in Gordon Head.  I found this little used private bench at the end of a cul de sac.  It's a little overgrown, but if you just want to take in a view in private, this would be a great spot. Warning: You may need to clear some bramble before sitting Vantreight Park   (48.492309, -123.30736) Just a ...

Ride 47 - Zzzzzzzzzzip

Ride 47 - 7 December 2019 Distance 22.2 km (Distance to date 1,507.6 km) Time 1hrs 54mins (Time to date 116hrs 1min) Hopefully, if all goes to plan, this was my penultimate ride!  Zipping up the gaps I have left on my map. The ride was pretty miserable, mainly because of the wet December weather. Fenders!!! I did finally ride past the Tartan Toque, probably my favourite place to eat in Victoria.  I'd always planned to stop here for a beer and a bowl of chicken wings when I finally rode past, but it didn't sound so appealing  at 11am!! Best Wings in Victoria (IMHO) My kind of art That crack was made by a dog's head Points of Interest..... No points of interest
