Ride 5 - Nothing Interesting .....EXCEPT A COW!!!

Ride 5 - 23 March
Distance 12.9 miles (Distance to date 85.0 miles)
Time 1:42 (Time to date 9:39)

I guess not every ride in this project is going to be a 10.  Ride 5 was the first ride I've done where I've kind of had nothing much to report, except a cow!!! (see more details of this gem below).

After the debacle of finding a bike for my last ride, this one was a piece of cake to find and the bike was in pretty good order (except a damaged pedal).

This ride was the first with some steep hills.  We got through it, but there were moments when my legs were near capacity!

Points of Interest.....

The Urban Cow (48.473823, -123.346427)

It's hard to believe that there is a cow living among us, but what I'm telling you is true.  A COW!!! Just there chewing the cud on Braefoot Rd.  It's not like there's a farm nestled between houses either, this appears to be a cow living in a yard.

My work here is done.

It's udderly amazing what you find when you mooove about

Only one point of interest, but a couple of other pictures:

Ride 45 - No More Waterfront to Ride

Ride 45 - 23 November 2019 Distance 31.3km (Distance to date 1451.5km) Time 2hrs 38mins (Time to date 111hrs 24mins) The end is firmly in sight! My rides tend to be pretty unplanned; I tend to head to an area, circle an area and then colour it in.  This lack of planning has now left me with an east west corridor!  The good news is, this corridor should be pretty simple to complete! Ride 44 to Date Ride 45 means I am now complete east of Shelborne, with downtown being the only sizeable chunk left to go.  I've not saved downtown until last (as many people have assumed), in fact, quite the opposite; I have been putting it off as I'm dreading it! The ride was pleasant, finishing off oak bay.  Sad to finish my last little bit of waterfront, as the waterfront rides are the ones I generally enjoy most. Deer command a lot more respect now they're 'tooled up' The 'Greatest Street Name in Victoria' award goes to............. The end o...

Biggest news in Victoria Right Now!?!?!?

OK, so the biggest news is actually a tragic story which broke all our hearts.  But page A6 of the Times Colonist is a much nicer story to read!!! The online version of the article is here: https://www.timescolonist.com/news/local/meet-the-cyclist-who-rode-every-victoria-street-often-twice-1.24039234

.......and so it begins

Every year I set myself a challenge; these challenges have ranged from giving up meat, to forming a one man band and charity fundraising. This year the challenge is set; to cycle every single street in Victoria, British Columbia ....to add a little twist, I'll do the whole thing on a rental bike. Along the way, I plan to record things of interest I see, people I meet etc and update this blog with progress.  Hopefully at the end I'll have a handy guide of things to see in Victoria BC (on two wheels). Hope you enjoy the journey!
