Ride 33 - Switching to the metric system

For no real reason, I have been completing this blog in (imperial (i.e. miles). The reason is kind of lazy. I'm originally from the UK so my Strava account has always been in miles. I do a lot of cycling and running and am pretty bi-lingual between miles and km so never bothered changing it.

The devil makes work for idle thumbs. The other day I was exploring the Strava app and randomly switched to km, not realizing it would screw up my blog. But now it's done, I figured I'll stick with it, as Canada is metric and this is a quintessentially Canadian challenge.

The ride was planned to be simple and short. It was until the nasty surprise at Mckenzie and Hwy 17! My rules are kind of simple, if a road is named with a sign, I ride it. If it's a private driveway, I don't. So looking at the map, I thought I was done, until I saw all the stupid road signs! Still, a nice little area I didn't even know existed was explored!

Ride 45 - No More Waterfront to Ride

Ride 45 - 23 November 2019 Distance 31.3km (Distance to date 1451.5km) Time 2hrs 38mins (Time to date 111hrs 24mins) The end is firmly in sight! My rides tend to be pretty unplanned; I tend to head to an area, circle an area and then colour it in. This lack of planning has now left me with an east west corridor! The good news is, this corridor should be pretty simple to complete! Ride 44 to Date Ride 45 means I am now complete east of Shelborne, with downtown being the only sizeable chunk left to go. I've not saved downtown until last (as many people have assumed), in fact, quite the opposite; I have been putting it off as I'm dreading it! The ride was pleasant, finishing off oak bay. Sad to finish my last little bit of waterfront, as the waterfront rides are the ones I generally enjoy most. Ride 23 - Beach Access!

Ride 23 - 21 July 2019 Distance 26.7miles (Distance to date 387.9 miles) Time 3hrs 14mins (Time to date 47hrs 56mins) So today's ride will always be remember for one thing. Not the scenary, not the beach views........the song I had stuck in my head. You Can Call me Al . Urgh. If you don't like people, but love deer, 10 mile point at 7:30am if the place for you! I didn't count, but I easily saw more deer then people for the first hour or so of this ride! 10 mile point isn't the most welcoming area to ride, the houses are big and for the most part they cover the shoreline, but there were loads of little secluded beach access points, the great discovery of this ride.
