Ride 39 - Gorge-ous

Ride 39 - 26 October 2019
Distance 41.7km (Distance to date 1176.0km)
Time 3hrs 16mins (Time to date 90hrs 20mins)

Rule of thumb for this challenge, the more waterfront the nicer the ride.  The Gorge Waterway did not disappoint!

All my fall rides have been great.  Weather has been kind and fall colours never fail to disappoint!

Leaves

One thing I do regret is the lack of pictures I took of the Gorge.  I walk my dog quite regularly along the gorge, so it's a pretty finaliar area, but I really should have grabbed more pictures for the blog.  You (my one reader) will just have to imagine a road alongside water with well manacured public plants and gardens!

The Gorge

In today's ride I did discover this alongside some stairs, to push your bike up!  Why don't all stairs have these rails?!  I can imagine life altering injuries could be suffered riding don, so maybe answered my own question!

Fail Army is waiting

Points of Interest.....

Bird Alpine Chalet Lodge (48.45659, -123.40578)

I previously discovered the bird condo.  Well this house took it up a notch, with chalet style wooden bird houses.

Not sure I'd want to sit in those chairs on a busy night!

Moose Antlers (48.45431, -123.42122)

Incase you ever forget you're in Canada, I found you some Moose Antlers to go look at.  You're welcome.

Mooses are BIG.

Portage Inlet Linear Park (48.46091, -123.41858)

Cute little park with a cute long name.  It's right by the highway, so only cute looking one direction with noise cancelling headphones, but still.

Cute! Just don't turn around

Biggest news in Victoria Right Now!?!?!?

Ride 23 - Beach Access!

Ride 23 - 21 July 2019 Distance 26.7miles (Distance to date 387.9 miles) Time 3hrs 14mins (Time to date 47hrs 56mins) So today's ride will always be remember for one thing.  Not the scenary, not the beach views........the song I had stuck in my head.  You Can Call me Al .   Urgh. If you don't like people, but love deer, 10 mile point at 7:30am if the place for you!  I didn't count, but I easily saw more deer then people for the first hour or so of this ride! 10 mile point isn't the most welcoming area to ride, the houses are big and for the most part they cover the shoreline, but there were loads of little secluded beach access points, the great discovery of this ride.  At 8am they were deserted too, so if you want some solitude and nature, head to ten mile point with your morning coffee! To save you the trouble, here they are! Beach Access   Points of Interest..... Glencoe Cove-Kwatsech Park  (48.48922, -123.30175) T...

Ride 35 - The West End is complete!

Ride 35 - 6 October 2019 Distance 35.1km (Distance to date 1041.8km) Time 2hrs 36mins (Time to date 79hrs 48mins) So the far eastern tip of the map is complete!!  I had meant to do that bit during Ride 21 , but ran out of time, so it was great to finally get it done!  The far from home areas are a logistical nightmare, over 30 minutes of riding just to get to the start line. I was soooo far east, the street signs turned blue, a sign that I had dipped into View Royal.  Just It was just a few streets, but I can declare View Royal has been completed View Royal is in the bag Highway 1 was not fun, made particularly hazardous by these signs places in the shoulder of a TWO LANE HIGHWAY!  Thanks guys. DANGER An update on overall progress below, a lot left but I'm starting to feel like this is doable!. Ride 35 to Date Now I want to be a postman 'I'm going to paint my house orangey red' said no sane man ever! Points of Interest..... No...
