Ride 35 - The West End is complete!

Ride 35 - 6 October 2019
Distance 35.1km (Distance to date 1041.8km)
Time 2hrs 36mins (Time to date 79hrs 48mins)

So the far eastern tip of the map is complete!!  I had meant to do that bit during Ride 21, but ran out of time, so it was great to finally get it done!  The far from home areas are a logistical nightmare, over 30 minutes of riding just to get to the start line.

I was soooo far east, the street signs turned blue, a sign that I had dipped into View Royal.  Just It was just a few streets, but I can declare View Royal has been completed

View Royal is in the bag
Highway 1 was not fun, made particularly hazardous by these signs places in the shoulder of a TWO LANE HIGHWAY!  Thanks guys.

DANGER
An update on overall progress below, a lot left but I'm starting to feel like this is doable!.

Ride 45 - No More Waterfront to Ride

Ride 45 - 23 November 2019 Distance 31.3km (Distance to date 1451.5km) Time 2hrs 38mins (Time to date 111hrs 24mins) The end is firmly in sight! My rides tend to be pretty unplanned; I tend to head to an area, circle an area and then colour it in.  This lack of planning has now left me with an east west corridor!  The good news is, this corridor should be pretty simple to complete! Ride 44 to Date Ride 45 means I am now complete east of Shelborne, with downtown being the only sizeable chunk left to go.  I've not saved downtown until last (as many people have assumed), in fact, quite the opposite; I have been putting it off as I'm dreading it! The ride was pleasant, finishing off oak bay.  Sad to finish my last little bit of waterfront, as the waterfront rides are the ones I generally enjoy most. Biggest news in Victoria Right Now!?!?!?

OK, so the biggest news is actually a tragic story which broke all our hearts.  But page A6 of the Times Colonist is a much nicer story to read!!! Ride 48 - Final Ride!!

Ride 48 - 15 Dec 2019 Distance 25.1 km (Distance to date 1532.7 km) Time 2hrs 11mins (Time to date 108hrs 12mins) Put a fork in me........I'm DONE!!! Since February 2019, I have dreamed of this ride.  I'd had all sorts of thoughts about how to end and how I'd mark the occasion.  In the end, I planned nothing.  With my wife heavily pregnant, the rides were becoming a burden and adding a celebration just didn't seem fair. In the end, fate gave me an ending; albeit a simple one.  The final metre of my final street was this................... The cycling gods delivered The last ride was a cold one, with the night's frost melting away as the sun hit. On the way there I also achieved a bucket list level accomplishment!!! Being early meant that downtown wasn't busy, great for a cyclist wanting to meander about looking for his last few random finds of this adventure.
